The Ohio Supreme Court on August 2 reversed a Board of Tax Appeals (BTA) decision that affirmed an assessment of use tax on certain fracking equipment. The taxpayer provides hydraulic fracturing (fracking) to pump a pressurized mixture of water, chemicals, and sand deep into the earth to fracture and prop open rock formations and extract oil and gas.
