The High Court recently delivered judgments in two cases, Commissioner of Domestic Taxes v Bank of Africa Kenya Limited. (Tax Appeal No. E004 of 2023) and Commissioner of Domestic Taxes v Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited. (Tax Appeal No. E123 of 2020), determining that interchange fees earned by issuing banks in card transactions are exempt from Value Added Tax (VAT).
