On 11 April 2023, State Secretary for Finance Van Rij presented the report ‘Evaluation of the reduced VAT rate’ by external consultancy firm Dialogic to the House of Representatives. According to Dialogic, the VAT rate of 9% is inefficient and expensive. If the government follows this up and abolishes reduced rates, citizens will pay the price.After all, entrepreneurs will pass on the higher VAT in the prices of their goods and services.
