- Hungary has introduced an extended EPR obligation from 1 July 2023, which will apply alongside the existing EPF.
- The EPR will be managed by the Green authority and administered by an authorized company, impacting eleven categories of goods.
- All businesses involved in the manufacture or first sale and introduction of products falling under Hungarian EPR must comply, including online sellers.
- The EPR fee is managed by MOL Waste Management Zrt, with payments made on a quarterly basis, and penalties for non-compliance.
- The EPF system will remain in place, but the EPR fee paid can be deducted from EPF declarations.
