Since January 1 , 2022, the reverse charge of import VAT has been generalized and compulsory for all companies importing goods in France. However, the right to deduct VAT has been subject to case law concerning service providers who do not own the goods they import into the European Union, directly impacting several sectors, and in particular French packagers and manufacturers.
