The Maltese Commissioner for Revenue published an official notice of the amendment to VAT (Rate of Interest) Regulations. The change consists of the increase of the interest rate from 0.33% to 0.6% for missing and late VAT payments, starting from September 2022. The increase in penalty targets the non-compliant taxpayers to pay VAT obligations on time.
