There are many challenges ahead in 2022 in the field of VAT, not only in Spain, but also at EU level. How we are able to handle these challenges will depend, to a large extent, on how we emerge from this situation of economic uncertainty.
Some of the challenges that we should keep an eye on are the following:
✔️ Digital economy and delocalization of activities
✔️ Modernizing VAT reporting
✔️ Tackling VAT fraud
✔️ Helping our businesses through a fairer and more efficient VAT system
All of the above is important but the last point is particularly crucial. VAT gives us a number of tools to help businesses and the Authorities should make use of them.
