Changes in customs procedures between the EU and the UK are being implemented gradually in 2022.
As of 1 January 2021, the United Kingdom (UK) is no longer part of the EU Customs Union. It is therefore necessary to apply the customs formalities required by Union law to all goods entering or leaving the United Kingdom’s customs territory from the United Kingdom. Goods brought into the EU customs territory from the United Kingdom or exported from the EU customs territory are subject to customs control, customs control and potential appropriate duties. Changes to EU-UK trade rules and customs procedures are being implemented gradually.
We have been informed by the EU Commission (TAXUD) about the changes in customs procedures between the EU and the UK, which will enter into force in 2022. In addition to the described changes in customs procedures, the document also provides answers to questions.
