- The European Commission (EC), at the request of most EU Member States, including Poland, issued a new decision exempting the import of goods needed to fight COVID-19 from customs and VAT.
- This decision will be in force from January 1 to June 30, 2022.
Due to the continuing demand for the import of protective and medical equipment, the European Commission issued Decision (EU) 2021/2313 (published on December 28 this year) on December 22, 2021, which allows for the continued application of the exemption from import duties and import VAT, among others . goods needed to combat the effects of the COVID-19 epidemic to Poland. The decision was addressed to 23 Member States of the European Union.
The new decision “replaces” Commission Decision (EU) 2020/491, which was extended three times, most recently until December 31, 2021, as reported in the communication: The European Commission extended exemptions from customs and VAT for imports of protective and medical equipment from outside the EU
The possibility of applying the import duty and VAT exemption for goods needed to combat the effects of the COVID-19 epidemic was extended until June 30, 2022.
