Since the terms digital signature and electronic signature are very often used interchangeably, it is important to accentuate that these two types of signatures are not equal and to distinguish the differences between them.
- An electronic signature (or e-signature) is a concept that is used to authenticate the signatory and certify the integrity of the electronic document.
- A digital signature can be explained as technological implementations of electronic signatures that authenticate a document through cryptographic protocols.
