Germany Updates Peppol and ZUGFeRD E-Invoicing Standards for Enhanced Interoperability and Cross-Border Adoption

  • Germany has updated its e-invoicing standards through Peppol, KoSIT, and ZUGFeRD to improve interoperability and simplify implementation.
  • KoSIT released the Central Settlement (ZR) framework version 1.0, standardizing settlement-based invoicing processes.
  • Peppol published an official English translation of the ZR framework to support cross-border adoption.
  • ZUGFeRD 2.5, launching in May 2026, will add gross invoice processing for specific industries.
  • Updated reference invoice templates and the English GEBA specification have been released to simplify implementation and standardize business identification.
