- Germany has launched the “German Electronic Business Address” (GEBA), based on the automatically assigned “Business Identification Number” (W-IdNr), to provide every German business with a unique digital identifier for the Peppol network.
- GEBA solves the previous limitation where only VAT IDs were practical for Peppol addressing, which excluded many small businesses, making Peppol adoption now accessible and low-barrier for the entire German business community.
- Registered internationally and offering sub-addressing capabilities for larger corporations, GEBA aligns strategically with European e-invoicing standards (EN 16931 and XRechnung 4.0) and is set to be fully integrated into Peppol systems by summer 2026.
