- Fee Increases for Inflation: Effective 1 April 2026, the CBSA will implement a 25.3% increase in certain fees that have not been adjusted since 1 April 2019. This includes customs broker licensing, examinations, customs special services, and warehousing/storage charges, reflecting compounded inflation as per the Service Fees Act.
- GST/HST Application: Starting 1 April 2026, GST/HST will be applied to certain CBSA cost-recovery service fees for the clearance of travelers outside regular hours or at non-designated locations. However, services provided during regular hours at designated entry points will remain exempt from these taxes.
- Ongoing Adjustments and Remission of Debts: The CBSA will continue to make annual inflationary adjustments to these fees moving forward. Additionally, the Governor in Council has granted remission for outstanding debts related to the non-collection of inflation-based fee adjustments from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2026.
