- The Oman Tax Authority (OTA) conducted a public workshop on January 6, 2026, clarifying the framework, technical standards, and compliance expectations for the upcoming mandatory electronic invoicing (e-invoicing) system, transitioning it from concept to active regulation.
- Oman will adopt the Peppol 5-Corner Model for e-invoicing, which enables real-time transaction visibility and simplifies the onboarding process for businesses by requiring them to connect through certified Peppol Access Points without needing private service metadata publishers.
- Key milestones for the e-invoicing rollout include opening service provider registration in Q1 2026, testing and compliance checks in Q2 2026, and a pilot phase for selected large taxpayers in Q3 2026, with all large taxpayers expected to comply by Q1 2027, and all other taxpayers by the same deadline.
