- North Macedonia launched the pilot testing phase of its e-invoice system (e-Faktura) on January 5, 2026, aiming to enhance transparency, reduce the shadow economy, and simplify administrative processes by replacing paper-based invoicing.
- The e-Faktura system operates as a centralized platform without intermediaries, facilitating direct, real-time communication between businesses and the tax authority, in line with the OECD’s Tax Administration 3.0 concept.
- During the pilot phase, businesses can test the Application Programming Interface (API) by submitting digitally signed e-invoices, which will receive unique identifiers upon validation; however, these test invoices have no legal or tax effect. The implementation roadmap includes plans for a client application release by Q1 2026 and a production server launch by Q2 2026.
