- Launch of EU-Co-Financed Project: On October 1, 2025, Finland initiated a project focused on implementing Peppol messages within the construction industry to enhance sustainability reporting, co-financed by the EU, with an emphasis on supporting SMEs in the Uusimaa region while aiming for broader national and international applicability.
- Phased Approach to Implementation: The project will unfold in three phases: conducting studies to assess company needs for integrating digital messages and sustainability data, providing training and webinars for SMEs on digital procurement practices, and running pilot tests to evaluate electronic ordering and the transfer of sustainability-related data, such as CO₂ emissions.
- Targeted Stakeholder Engagement: The initiative aims to benefit various stakeholders in the construction supply chain, including SMEs, material suppliers, general contractors, designers, software companies, and public organizations, by promoting standardized order-invoice messages and automated data transfer to enhance procurement efficiency and sustainability reporting practices. The pilot is set to continue until September 30, 2027.
