- Denmark is advancing towards compliance with upcoming EU regulations, particularly the VAT in the Digital Age (VIDA), by modernizing its e-invoicing and digital bookkeeping standards. The country aims to enhance automation and efficiency in its digital economy while maintaining its leadership in B2B and public sector digitalization.
- Key updates include the publication of OIOUBL 2.1, which incorporates optional fields for CO₂ and climate-related data, and the anticipated release of SAF-T 2.0 by the end of 2025, enhancing structured financial data management. Additionally, e-invoicing is mandatory for businesses invoicing public authorities, and there are plans to extend this requirement to public entities invoicing businesses.
- With the full compliance deadline for mandatory digital bookkeeping and e-invoicing by January 2026, Denmark is also preparing for ViDA’s digital reporting rules set for July 2030. Proposed measures include achieving 70% e-invoicing adoption by 2027 and integrating API-based systems, which will ultimately lead to more standardized and automated financial processes, positioning Denmark as a leader in digital compliance within the EU.
