On November 4, 2025, there’s an upcoming Public Hearing by the European Parliament’s  FISC Committee on  “The Role of VAT and Data Bias in Combating Period Poverty”

    • Ø Prof. Dr. Rita DE LA FERIA, Professor in Tax Law, School of Law, University of Leeds (online)
    • Ø Prof. Dr. Åsa GUNNARSSON, Professor of Tax Law, Umeå University in Sweden
  • 09:30 – 10:25 Discussion with FISC Members 
  • 10:25 – 10:30 Conclusions by the FISC Chair 

The question is: How many Member States indeed apply low VAT Rates to combat period poverty?

And if not, can Fisc collect sufficient data to inform the European Parliament on this topic, urging the Commission and the Council to encourage Member States to take action?
