- Removal of Additional Tariffs on US Goods: As of September 22, 2025, Turkiye has abolished additional tariffs on various US-origin goods, including the previously imposed 60% tariff on passenger vehicles, marking a significant shift in trade policy.
- Introduction of New Motor Vehicle Tariffs: Starting the same date, new blanket tariffs based on engine type will be implemented for motor cars, with rates set at 25% (minimum US$6,000) for conventional and hybrid vehicles, and 30% (minimum US$7,000 for plug-in vehicles and US$8,500 for electric vehicles).
- Provisional Relief and Compliance Guidance: Importers can avoid these new tariffs if goods are cleared within two months of the decree’s publication. Affected entities are advised to consult tax and trade advisors to understand the implications of these changes on their import strategies and compliance obligations.
