- The Netherlands is preparing to implement the EU VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) package, focusing on fraud prevention and digitalisation, with key measures including a deemed supplier regime for platforms and a mandatory e-invoicing system for intra-EU B2B transactions starting July 1, 2030.
- The rollout will follow a structured four-phase approach—research, legislation, technical development, and implementation—starting with draft legislation expected in autumn 2025, and consultations will consider extending e-invoicing to domestic transactions while addressing SME compliance burdens.
- The reforms aim to modernize VAT administration, enhance compliance and transparency, and align with other EU member states, although they will require significant IT investments and process upgrades for businesses and tax authorities.
