According to recent reports, officials from Bahrain and Russia signed an agreement on mutual administrative assistance in customs matters on 18 June 2025. The agreement will enter into force 30 days after the ratification instruments are exchanged.

- Parties: Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa (Bahrain Customs) and Tatiana Merkushova (Russia’s Federal Customs Service)

- Strategic alignment with Bahrain’s 2024–2027 Customs Affairs Plan
- Aims to facilitate trade, streamline procedures, and enhance border security
