Mapping German mandatory VAT data to EN16931

  • Mapping Initiative: A collaborative effort has produced a mapping table that links mandatory fields from the German Value Added Tax Act (UStG) to the European e-invoicing standard EN 16931-1. This guide aims to streamline B2B e-invoicing implementations by ensuring compliance with legal requirements while aligning with technical standards.
  • Detailed Field Correspondences: The initiative provides specific examples of how UStG requirements correspond to EN 16931-1 fields, such as linking the invoice issue date and number to their respective fields in the standard. More complex scenarios, like the reverse charge mechanism, are also addressed to ensure that all legally required information is properly represented in structured e-invoices.
  • Future Enhancements and Uniformity: By promoting uniformity in e-invoicing practices, the initiative aims to reduce discrepancies and legal issues related to data representation. Future enhancements will expand the mapping to include more elements, like prepayment and final invoices, as well as additional legal requirements, thereby further improving the consistency and comprehensive implementation of e-invoicing in Germany.
