Removal of fines for taxpayers who reconcile their situation before the end of May 2025

  • Penalty Waiver for Compliance: The tax authorities in Jordan announced that penalties will be waived for taxpayers who comply with the national electronic invoicing mandate by the end of May 2025, encouraging those who have not yet adhered to the requirements to register and integrate with the electronic invoicing system.
  • Mandatory Use of JoFotara: All invoices for goods and services must be issued through JoFotara or directly integrated systems; only invoices generated via JoFotara are valid for tax deductions. This applies to various transaction types, including B2G, B2B, and B2C.
  • Implementation Timeline: The timeline for the national electronic invoicing system includes several key milestones: standardization began in 2019, JoFotara was developed in 2021, and from April 1, 2025, most businesses must join the system, with a gradual onboarding of SMEs and other sectors planned for 2026 and beyond.
