The Swedish Tax Agency has issued a release on its efforts to counter VAT fraud, which stopped incorrect VAT payments of SEK 534 million in 2024. The release also notes that the recently approved VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) Package will help to further address VAT fraud through, among other things, e-invoicing requirements for cross-border supplies within the EU that will be mandatory for all transactions between EU countries from 1 July 2030.
