- Starting April 1, 2025, Greece’s Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE) will require newly established businesses to submit monthly VAT returns for their first two years of operation, regardless of their accounting system.
- Businesses registered from April 1, 2025, onward must file monthly returns immediately, while those registered between January 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025, will begin monthly filings from July 1, 2025. Existing businesses can opt in for monthly filing starting October 1, 2025.
- This policy aims to enhance tax compliance and combat VAT fraud, while offering potential benefits like improved cash flow management and faster VAT refunds; businesses will need to adjust their internal systems to accommodate the increased reporting frequency.
