- Upcoming B2B E-Invoicing Mandate: Starting January 1, 2026, all B2B invoices in Belgium must be transmitted via the Peppol network using the Peppol BIS 3.0 format, aiming to standardize decentralized invoice exchanges between businesses and prepare for near real-time e-reporting by 2028.
- Implicit Agreement through Peppol Registration: Registration on the Peppol network is considered an implicit agreement to receive e-invoices, which is particularly significant for international partners. This simplifies the process by reducing the need for additional agreements or manual coordination for e-invoicing.
- Support for SMEs: The Belgian government is implementing initiatives to assist SMEs and self-employed individuals in adopting e-invoicing, including providing a list of certified e-invoicing providers, tax incentives, and continued access to the Hermes platform for support.
