- Direct Clearance from Port to Manufacturing Unit: The new regulations allow Authorized Importers with AEO Tier II or III accreditation to clear imported goods directly from the port to their manufacturing unit (‘Authorized Premises’) and file the Bill of Entry for home consumption from there.
- Conditions for Availing the Facility: Importers must store goods in a demarcated bonded area under Section 58 or 58A, or within an existing MOOWR warehouse, and the resultant goods must fall under CTH 8517 to 8548. An application must be submitted to the jurisdictional Commissioner of Customs, and the intent to use this facility must be declared when filing the Bill of Entry.
- Record Keeping and Compliance: The regulations mandate maintaining records and accounts regarding the receipt, handling, and removal of goods. This scheme enhances ease of doing business by streamlining customs clearance processes for specific imported goods.
