The Lithuanian parliament (Seimas) is considering a draft bill that would expand the scope of supplies subject to the reduced VAT rate of 9% to include a basket of essential foodstuffs, which shall be drawn up in accordance with a procedure established by the government. The scope of the 9% rate would also be expanded to include catering and beverage services, with the exception of the sale of alcoholic beverages. If approved, the expanded scope would apply from 1 July 2025.
