ZATCA has proposed changes to the VAT law, aiming to provide advantages to taxpayers. The main goals are to align tax procedures with global best practices, improve the efficiency of the tax refund process, boost compliance, and support the growth of Saudi Arabia’s tourism industry. Key updates include new guidelines for credit and debit notes, simplified tax group registration criteria, and clarifications on nominal supplies. The proposed changes are open for public feedback until September 17, 2024.
