The Italian Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the Italian branch of Amazon on suspicion of tax evasion, focusing on tax obligations for the trade of goods within Italy and internationally, particularly regarding VAT and customs duties. This investigation follows a recent seizure of 121 million euros from another division of the Italian group Amazon for alleged tax fraud and illegal labor practices. Tax authorities in Monza have been checking Amazon’s accounts in Italy, but the extent of the potential tax evasion is not yet known. Amazon has not yet commented.
