The Italian plastic tax on manufactured products for single use (or MACSI) has been postponed to July 2026. The tax aims to reduce the production and use of single-use plastics and promote less harmful alternatives. It applies to plastic products composed of synthetic polymers for containment, protection, manipulation, or delivery of goods or foodstuffs. Some products are excluded, such as compostable MACSI, MACSI for medical preparations, and recycled MACSI. The taxable persons vary depending on where the MACSI is manufactured.
