Finland plans to raise its standard VAT rate from 24% to 25.5% effective from 1 September 2024. The increase is part of the budget for 2025-2028 and aims to stabilize public finances. Certain food items high in sugar will also see a VAT increase, while others will maintain their current rates. The draft law is under a comments period, and a new space for domestic supplies at 25.5% will be available for online VAT returns starting from the same date.
