Peppol’s usage is rapidly spreading as more countries implement e-invoicing rules and regulations. While some countries have mandated independent national e-invoicing systems, the majority of European countries now promote the use of Peppol. Its popularity, combined with its ability to simplify B2B and B2G transactions, has made Peppol compatibility a must-have for supply chain organizations. This article explores the technical aspects of Peppol, including the three types of message responses supported by Peppol, transport acknowledgements, message level responses, and business level responses. It also provides an overview of the Peppol network structure known as the four corner model.
