The Peppol infrastructure facilitates secure electronic document exchange between businesses and government entities. It consists of Peppol Access Points, Service Metadata Publishers (SMP), Service Metadata Locators (SML), and unique Peppol IDs. Access Points are certified by OpenPeppol and ensure compliance with security protocols. SMP is a decentralized registry listing available addresses and metadata of Peppol network users. SML is the central registry defining which SMP contains information for each participant.
