- Emergency Ordinance No. 70/2024 in Romania introduces the RO e-TVA system, a prefilled VAT return to simplify tax reporting.
- The system will pre-fill the VAT return with data from various sources, and companies must still submit their return. Discrepancies over 20% or LEI 1,000 must be explained within 10 days, or face fines and increased tax audits.
- The system becomes operational from August 1, 2024, and applies to transactions since July 1, 2024.
- The pre-filled VAT return will be accessible through the Virtual Private Space, and taxpayers must check, modify, complete, sign, and submit the return.
