The 53rd GST Council meeting chaired by Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on June 22, 2024, made recommendations on changes in GST tax rates, trade facilitation, and compliance streamlining. Recommendations included exempting services provided by Indian Railways to the public, creating a separate entry to exempt accommodation services, and declaring co-insurance premium as no supply under Schedule III of the CGST Act, 2017.
