Taxpayers are demanding rationalization of GST rates, faceless dealing with authorities, and an amnesty scheme as GST completes seven years. A survey by a leading consulting firm showed that the top demand for structural changes for GST 2.0 is rationalizing GST rates across sectors and removing the inverted duty structure. The GST Council is due to meet to discuss these issues. The survey also highlighted problems with tax audits and the need to remove restrictions on input tax credits. Taxpayers are also calling for an amnesty scheme to resolve disputes that have arisen in the last seven years.
