During the meeting of the Council of the EU on May 14, 2024, a compromise was NOT approved on the VAT in the Digital Age proposal.
Reason: Deemed supplier regime for platforms in short-term accommodation and road transport sectors. Estonia wants to make it optional to address his concerns on VAT neutrality, impact on SME’s and consumers, administrative burden.
Belgium would still want to come to an agreement before the end of its presidency of Council.
