On 15 April 2024, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on e-invoicing, marking a significant step in their bilateral cooperation. The agreement demonstrates their commitment to promoting e-invoicing adoption by businesses. Under the MoA, both countries pledge to collaborate on initiatives to foster e-invoicing adoption, including promoting supportive infrastructure, standardization, and raising awareness of its benefits. Both countries already show commitment to using Peppol standards in the public sector, and Singapore has announced implementation timelines for adapting the Peppol-5-corner model for business transactions. This MoA aligns with an existing agreement between Australia and Singapore and can be viewed as a standardization effort in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
