On 22 March 2022, the Bundesrat approved the compromise on the Growth Opportunities Act after tough negotiations. The CDU-led Federal States also gave their approval after the Federal Government issued a protocol for further relief, including reducing bureaucracy for agricultural businesses and examining potential tax relief for alternative fuels. The controversial cancellation of subsidies on agricultural diesel is still intended by the Federal Government. The legislation was already approved by the Bundestag on 23 February 2024, and now with the Bundesrat’s approval, it will be finally adopted.
