- The latest release of Data on Taxation Trends provides updated information on key taxation indicators, including tax revenue data up to 2022. The data covers EU Member States, Iceland, and Norway.
- In 2022, the EU recorded a record high nominal tax revenue of EUR 6,388 billion, representing an 8.0% increase compared to 2021. Revenues from capital taxes grew by 12.5%, while consumption taxes and labor taxes saw increases of 6.9% and 6.8% respectively.
- Taxes on labor accounted for 50.6% of total tax revenues, taxes on consumption made up 27.3%, and taxes on capital comprised 22.1%.
- The data contributes to the upcoming 2024 Annual Report on Taxation, which will be published in June 2024.
- The indicators are developed with the input of experts from the ministries of finance in the covered countries.
