The American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union is urging for the swift completion and adoption of the EU’s VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) proposal during the Belgian Presidency of the Council. They emphasize the benefits of ViDA, particularly the Single VAT Registration (SVRN), for US and European companies, especially those involved in e-commerce and enabling SMEs to engage in cross-border sales. The SVRN would simplify VAT compliance and reduce the burden of multiple registrations. The Chamber highlights the importance of finalizing negotiations and implementing ViDA without delays, ensuring that businesses, particularly SMEs, can benefit from the reforms and Member States can enhance VAT revenue collection. They call on the Belgian Presidency to prioritize concluding the ViDA negotiations, adopting the SVRN, and establishing an expeditious yet feasible timeline for implementation.
