Belgium is planning to make electronic invoicing mandatory for B2B transactions starting from January 1, 2026. The proposal includes a broader entry into force and the introduction of mandatory electronic reporting at a later stage. However, the plan is pending final approval from the Belgian Parliament and permission from the European Commission. The new mandate will require structured electronic invoices in the Peppol-BIS format for local B2B transactions taxable in Belgium. Businesses are encouraged to prepare for this significant shift and transition to electronic invoicing to modernize financial processes.
