Japan’s 2024 Tax Reform Proposals include plans to impose Japanese Consumption Tax (JCT) on inbound cross-border digital services provided to
consumers in Japan through certain platforms. Under the proposed new rules, platform operators will be liable to pay consumpiton tax on behalf of
foreign service providers. The proposal also includes changes in the tax exemption rules. The proposed introduction date is 1 April 2025.
