The “Bundesrat”, the representative body of the German Länder, approved the bill which includes electronic invoicing, postponing the start of the mandatory issuance of invoices until January 2027 for companies with a turnover greater than 800,000 euros and 2028 for companies with a turnover of less than 800,000 euros. In addition, all companies must be able to receive electronic invoices from January 2025.
However, companies that wish to do so can start using electronic invoicing on a voluntary basis from 2025.
