Switzerland is reforming its customs tariff, abolishing industrial tariffs, and simplifying the Swiss Customs Tariff (TARES) by reducing the number of tariff headings. Import duties for industrial products will no longer apply from 1 January 2024, and preferential proof of origin will not be necessary for these products. However, customs clearance and other additional duties and taxes will still apply. The changes will require a revision of the customs tariff headings in the database and will result in administrative relief for companies.
