- The Greek Parliament passed Law 5073/2023 to combat tax evasion, with provisions for fines and tax deductions to be implemented by the Minister of National Economy and Finance.
- Additionally, incentives for voluntary e-invoicing will be effective from December 11, 2023.
- The law introduces penalties for non-compliance with MyDATA regulations, with fines reaching up to 250 Euros per document.
- Tax deductions and deductible expenses are only considered if related documents are electronically transmitted to AADE in line with MyDATA requirements.
- Taxpayers using electronic invoicing through a service provider will benefit from an extended incentive period until December 31, 2024.
- Greece is also considering implementing mandatory e-invoicing and discussing with the EU Commission for a B2B e-invoicing mandate, indicating a push for wider adoption of e-invoicing in the country.
