Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) is a program that allows sellers to outsource their order fulfillment process to Amazon. Sellers send their products to Amazon’s fulfillment centers, and Amazon handles picking, packing, shipping, customer service, and returns for FBA orders. To use FBA, sellers enroll products in their Amazon Seller Central account, prepare and ship inventory to Amazon facilities. Amazon charges monthly storage fees and fulfillment fees based on item weight/size. FBA provides access to Prime shipping labels, automated fulfillment, and a wide customer base, but sellers lose control over fulfillment operations and may incur significant fees. FBA is beneficial for high-volume sellers but may not be suitable for startups and niche brands. Alternative options include Seller-Fulfilled Prime and multi-channel fulfillment. Overall, FBA streamlines fulfillment and can boost Amazon sales, but sellers need to carefully evaluate fees versus the value of leveraging Amazon’s expertise.
