- Spain has updated its packaging regulations, requiring entities introducing new packaged products into the Spanish market to comply with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) laws.
- This includes manufacturers, importers, packing companies, and online sellers on platforms like Amazon.
- Online marketplaces are responsible for ensuring sellers adhere to EPR packaging rules. Businesses must select an EPR service provider, obtain a registration number, fulfill reporting duties, make regular payments of eco-contributions, and ensure compliance with invoice and packaging information requirements.
- Producers may also need to report packaging sold in 2021 and 2022, with fees applicable from 2023 onwards.
