A Certificate of Origin (CO) is an official document that declares the country in which a commodity or good was manufactured. It is important for international trade as it determines eligibility for import and export and whether import duty applies. There are different types of CO, including standard CO, legalised CO, certified CO, and EUR1 certificate. The information included in a CO typically consists of details of the manufacturer, country of origin, exporting agent, receiver, description of goods, quantity, size, weight, Bill of Lading (BoL) number, shipping details, and a dated commercial invoice. COs are authorized by chambers of commerce and can be in paper or digital format.
